“Daredevil” season 3 is coming and new details were revealed as some of its cast and crew attended the New York Comic-Con last week. One of the major spoilers that were shared to the audience was about the series’s new villain. Who will the protagonist be up against this season?
Previously, there were speculations that Bullseye is joining “Daredevil” season 3 but this was never addressed by the show’s producers or actors. It was relayed during the 2018 NYCC that the cast and crew were ordered not to confirm or deny any major information so this was only affirmed during the event.
“We were so crazy about it we even took the dart board out of the writers' room,” Gamespot quoted showrunner Erik Oleson as saying during the Comic-Con. “Just in case someone accidentally took a picture and someone on the internet thought it was a clue.”
It is now confirmed that Agent Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter (Wilson Bethel), an ex-FBI agent, is going to be the new villain. He’s gone off the rails and turned into a sharp-shooting baddie called Bullseye. Now, he will not be shown with a bullseye emblem on his forehead but he will be wearing a baseball cap with an image of a dartboard instead.
Oleson further described the new villain as one of the greatest villains in any of the comic books. “And in order to fit in with the emotionally honest, character-driven version of the show, we wanted to explore the journey of how someone teetering on the edge of lightness or darkness could ultimately become that iconic character," he said.
At the NYCC, the trailer of “Daredevil” season 3 was also played and it narrated how Dex became Bullseye the villain. In the clip, the troubled Bethel and Vincent D’Onofrio (Fisk) developed a friendship and that was the start of the ex-FBI agent’s transformation into a full-fledged baddie.
The full story will be revealed when “Daredevil” season 3 premieres on Oct. 19 on Netflix.
