“Dark” season 2 is one of the much-awaited thriller series on Netflix. It is anticipated to arrive this year but there are clues that the wait could last until June.
The first 10 episodes dropped on Netflix on Dec. 1, 2017. The streaming service company ordered “Dark” season 2 just about 20 days later. But until now, it has yet to announce when the second installment is coming out.
However, one of the sub-Reddit threads about “Dark” season 2 holds a promising clue that it might be released in June. It started when actor Oliver Masucci, who plays the 2019 version of Ulrich Nielsen, shared a behind-the-scenes photo while filming the series.
The image itself does not reveal much, but Masucci confirmed they were at the 69th day of production at the time. Unsurprisingly, most of the comments were fans asking when “Dark” season 2 will be released. And Masucci was gracious enough to respond to one of them saying, “About June 2019.”
Now it is possible that the release date of “Dark” season 2 was not yet set in stone at the time. But Masucci, playing a significant role in the show, will likely have an idea of the entire production’s planned time frame. So his “about June 2019” response could be a reliable source of information.
It is also important to note that Masucci said in the same Instagram post, uploaded in early November 2018, that it was his last day of filming. But co-showrunner Baran bo Odar confirmed that they only wrapped up the entire production by the end of the same month. The actor’s very early exit from production sparked some concerns that his character might be dying in “Dark” season 2.
The series plot has been very unpredictable so there is no telling yet whether Ulrich will die in “Dark” season 2. Series co-creator Jantje Friese previously told IndieWire not everything that ended up in the final cut was planned. “It was all mapped out, but in the process we also allowed ourselves to be surprised by whatever shows up while we were writing,” Friese explained.
