“Doctor Who” Season 12 has been announced to return on the early months of 2020 although no exact date has been given just yet. Jodie Whittaker will be reprising her role as the Thirteenth Doctor. This isn’t surprising since the previous installment saw stellar numbers for the series that was quite rare for the show.
And with “Doctor Who” Season 12, this figure is expected to maintain its strong presence or surpass its predecessor’s numbers. This is especially true since there are a lot of big names that are eager to be a part of “Doctor Who” Season 12.
One such name is none other than the iconic Peter Jackson himself, the award-winning director who is behind gargantuan franchises like “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogy. Of course, this isn’t set in stone just yet as Jackson is also busy with other projects. But he did express his desire to spearhead an episode in the future and there’s a chance – small though it might be – that it will happen in “Doctor Who” Season 12.
Another writing talent that could be returning is Mark Gatiss, the co-creator of BBC’s hit series “Sherlock.” Gatiss is considered one of the pioneers behind the franchise and has also said that he’ll be willing to lend his expertise if the current showrunner Chris Chibnall would have him. The writer’s presence could prove a boost in rating for “Doctor Who” Season 12, especially when paired with the current team who has managed to capture the hearts of new and old fans alike.
As for what’s going to be included in the next installment, nothing has been confirmed just yet. It’s expected that the restrictions imposed on the previous season will be lifted and the Cybermen, Daleks, and Weeping Angels could reappear in “Doctor Who” Season 12. Hopefully, the filming goes swimmingly and no unforeseen delay will plague the production.
