After years of waiting, “Elden Ring” is finally coming in less than a couple of weeks. While the majority of crucial details about the plot and gameplay are released out in the wild, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have yet to reveal the minimum requirements to play it on PC. Thanks to a short-lived leak on Steam, though, PC gamers may already have some information.
Video game fans started noticing over the weekend that the “Elden Ring” product page on Steam was updated to include the minimum PC specs requirements of the game. Considering the game cutscenes and gameplay footage shown in trailers, it was not surprising that the leaked system requirements were a matter of interest to many fans. And based on the inadvertently released information, the specs listed were reasonable.
The briefly listed minimum PC requirements included Intel Core i5 8400 / AMD Ryzen 3 3300X for CPU, Nvidia GeForce 1060 3GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB for GPU, 12GB RAM, 60GB storage space, and DirectX 12. The Steam leak also confirmed that “Elden Ring” will run on PCs with Windows 11 operating system, which has reached more computers since it went live last fall.
As mentioned, these specs have been immediately removed from Steam. When fans visit the “Elden Ring” page now, they will only find “TBD” under the System Requirements section. While the leaked specs seem plausible, fans should be open to seeing changes until Bandai Namco makes the official announcement. And given that the game is slated to launch soon, the official PC specs requirements could be revealed in the coming days.
Fans have been worried about “Elden Ring” after Bandai Namco temporarily took down the “Dark Souls” PvP servers following reports of a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability. Some feared that the severe security issues could easily compromise PCs and that it would also be present in “Elden Ring.”
However, the publisher shared a bit of good news last week. Bandai Namco confirmed the “Dark Souls” servers would be up after the “Elden Ring” release. The company also assured fans that the upcoming game has the “necessary security measures” for PC and other versions. “Elden Ring” will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on Feb. 25.
