“Elden Ring” is one of the most anticipated video games that fans hope would have a new teaser before the end of the year. A recent report also gives fans more reasons to believe that its launch could happen sometime in 2021.
‘Elden Ring’ release date could be set in 2021
FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki have found huge success in previous games they have both worked on such as the “Dark Souls” series and “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.” It was then not surprising that fans have been excited to see what they will release next, which happens to be “Elden Ring.” More reason to anticipate the game is the fact that “Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin has worked with Miyazaki in writing the new IP’s story.
The game was first announced during E3 2019, and not much information was released since then. However, that could be changing soon as another source reports the development of “Elden Ring” could be near its completion. Lance McDonald, who is known for having inside sources especially on FromSoftware projects, recently mentioned that the game is at a state where it is good enough to be showcased in public.
“It seems like there's some people working on ‘Elden Ring’ who they only bring in when the games are nearly finished,” McDonald said in a recent Twitch stream (via GamesRadar). He added that the line of work of one of the contractors he knows is working on the game would suggest that it is “almost finished.”
McDonald expressed confidence that the game is likely getting released in 2021, but he thinks March is a little too early. It can be recalled that another leaker previously claimed that “Elden Ring” was originally planned for a March 2021 launch but COVID-19 forced FromSoftware to adjust its timeline purportedly delaying the release by around two to three months.
Fans hope for an ‘Elden Ring’ update at TGA 2020
A release date sometime in 2021, especially in the first half of the year, makes it possible for “Elden Ring” to be part of The Game Awards on Dec. 10. Despite suggesting that the development is nearing completion, McDonald cannot confirm whether FromSoftware is preparing something for TGA later this week.
