Ellen DeGeneres to Retire from ‘Ellen Show’; Host Reportedly Wants Neil Patrick Harris or Chrissy Teigen to Take Over

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres is said to be stepping down from her “Ellen Show” and considering some of her previous guests to replace her. It was revealed that the host has three candidates for the hosting job and they are Chrissy Teigen, Neil Patrick Harris, and Ellie Kemper.

Life & Style magazine (via Gossip Cop) claimed that Ellen DeGeneres has been hosting the show for over 16 years so she wants to retire now and this is also what her wife Portia De Rossi wants anyway. In fact, it was reported that it was the former model who actually urged the 61-year-old TV personality to step down.

The publication wrote that Ellen DeGeneres wish for her show to continue when her contract ends in 2020, so she shortlisted some A-List stars to fill in once she leaves. The source said that Portia De Rossi’s wife reached out to some of her previous guest hosts and discussed the possibility of them to host “Ellen.”

Gossip Cop is out again to debunk stories this week and this report is one of them. The fact-checking site stated that this is a false narrative because Ellen DeGeneres already said that she is not retiring yet. It was also pointed out that the news may have been lifted from the host’s and her wife’s interview with The New York Times late last year.

At one point, Portia De Ross said that Ellen can tackle may other things beyond her hosting gig and this line sparked the rumor that she has been begging her wife to give up the show and try something else since she has lots of talent especially in being a standup comedienne.

But then, Gossip Cop mentioned that staff from the show told them that Ellen DeGeneres has no plans of retiring. Plus, since Life & Style does not exactly have a good reputation when it comes to honest reporting, GC is confidently disproving the claims for the lack of solid proof and solid source.
