'Game of Thrones' ‘Cersei Lannister’ And ‘Ned Stark’ Will Be In ‘Final Fantasy XV’

“Final Fantasy XV” is the latest installment in “Square Enix’s” legendary video game franchise, but there have been some concerns when it comes to attracting new players who have never played any of the previous titles. As such, the Japanese game company will enlist the help of “Cersei Lannister” and “Ned Stark” from “Game of Thrones” or at least the actors who played them to appeal to a broader audience.

Lenna Hedley, who plays the evil “Queen Cersei” in the hit HBO show “Game of Thrones,” will be one of the A-list actors who “Square Enix” has recruited to voice characters in their CG movie titled “Kingsglave.” Other stars include Sean Bean who played the tragic hero “Eddard “Ned” Stark” on the same show as Hedley, and Aaron Paul who brought “Jesse Pinkman” to life in “Breaking Bad.”

As Venture Beat noted, the decision to hire such recognizable names in show business likely stemmed from the advice given by Hollywood authorities. The developers of the game consulted with several writers regarding methods to attract a mainstream audience to the latest addition to the “Final Fantasy” franchise. Considering how well known the three actors are all over the world for their parts in such phenomenal TV shows and movies, it’s expected that even non-gaming and non-fantasy fans will be interested to know more about the CG movie.

This isn’t the first time that “Square Enix” dabbled in creating CG movies, though, as they also released such titles as the 2001 disaster “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within” and the 2005 underperformer “Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.” To be fair, fans of the franchise found the latter acceptable; they just couldn’t stomach the former.

Other tactics that the developers will use to draw in as many players as possible include a short anime series consisting of five episodes called “Brotherhood” and a mobile game called “Justice Monsters Five.” The Final Fantasy franchise has sold over 110 million copies since its inception and as Dual Shockers highlights in their post containing an image of the consolidated forecast by Square Enix, the game company is expecting their latest title to bring in at least 16.8 percent in increased revenue.
