Season 2 for “Gotham” introduced one of the most compelling and intimidating villains in modern television in the form of Hugo Strange. With razor sharp intelligence and a convincing presence, this TV baddie is beyond the generic antagonist that has become endemic. Will the season finale lead to the death of Mr. Strange or will viewers get the chance to see him again in season 3?
The season finale is titled “Transference” though what it refers to is still unclear. Even so, an article from Carter Matt can give viewers something to look forward to as the conclusion is set to have a major confrontation.
Strange is of course intending to free himself and his inmates, which can only mean trouble for Gotham. As an article by Econo Times points, Bruce Wayne, James Gordon, and Lucius Fox will presumably remain trapped inside the research institute of Indian Hill while the escape happens. So our ever reliable police officer might not be there when the fun starts.
For those who have been missing the official gimp of the show Oswald Cobblepot, rejoice for he will be back for the season finale. He hates Hugo Strange, so he might be the one to kill him. He could also start sniveling again and try to weasel his way as is typical with Oswald. That’s something to look forward to.
One of the things that made “Gotham” a risky proposition as a TV series is how well known the inevitable destination of the whole story is. Everyone knows that many of the main characters will live including Bruce, Alfred, Jim, and a whole slew of the villains featured in the show.
Speaking of which, Hugo Strange is a recurring antagonist in the Batman universe, so perhaps he’s in no danger of dying after all. Fans will have to watch on May 23 on Fox to find out.
