The start of 2019 will not be easy for partners Danny (Scott Caan) and Steve (Alex O’Loughlin). Fans might be missing some of Danny’s funny banters and jokes in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 12. He will surely be in a serious mode as a car accident sends her daughter, Grace (Teilor Grubbs), to the hospital in a critical condition.

The first official teaser for “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 12 (via CarterMatt) does not explicitly mention a new case coming up. But this is because Steve and the rest of the Five-0 will help Danny in determining how the potentially fatal accident occurred.
Fans should know by now that things can escalate and go on a very dark turn in this show. So it would not be too far-fetched to consider that the accident that badly injured Grace is orchestrated. Grace might not be the direct target but it could be an attempt to bring down Danny in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 12.
In fact, even the “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 12's title “Ka hauli o ka mea hewa ‘ole, he nalowale koke” already suggests that there is more to it than just being an accident. The English translation for the title is “A Bruise Inflicted on an Innocent Person Vanishes Quickly.” If the “car accident” turns out to be premeditated, this installment might have repercussions affecting the rest of the season.
It is only fitting to have the “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 12 as a Danny-focused installment. As earlier reported, episode 11 -- the very first 2019 episode -- is centered on Steve. Fans will witness him grieve the recent loss of his father figure, Joe White (Terry O’Quinn). Episode 11 is likely ending on a good note, which would motivate Steve and prepare him for Danny’s upcoming ordeal.
“Hawaii Five-0” season 9 episode 12 is also a chance to see more of Tani (Meaghan Rath) and Koa’s (Kunal Sharma) relationship. Unfortunately, they are going to bond over another mishap when one of Koa’s rehab patients goes missing. Catch this episode on Friday, Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
