PITTSBURGH, Jan. 08, 2018 -- II‐VI Incorporated (NASDAQ:IIVI), a leader in thermoelectric solutions, today announced the release of its patented EverGen® PowerStrap™ Generator designed to harvest wasted heat as reusable energy in the oil and gas industry.
The quest for greater efficiency, reliability, safety and security in the energy infrastructure is driving the demand for off-grid thermal energy harvesting solutions. II-VI’s EverGen® PowerStrap™ Generator converts thermal energy into electrical energy using the wasted energy from liquid-filled pipes or gas exhaust stacks and provides an economical, reliable and autonomous source of power for off-grid applications. It is especially effective in northern climates where inclement weather makes other sources of off-grid energy, such as solar power, less reliable.
“II-VI is excited to offer this new thermoelectric remote power source for burner management systems mandated by Canada’s CSA B149.3-15 gas safety code,” said Kevin MacGibbon, General Manager, II-VI Marlow. “The EverGen® PowerStrap™ Generator is an ideal solution that will provide a year-round, economical and reliable source of power to these burners’ lighting systems, in both on- and off-grid environments.”
The EverGen® PowerStrap™ Generator is a Class 1 Div2 certified product that directly addresses the problem of providing electrical power to burner management systems used in the oil and gas industry. Its power generating strap assembly accommodates pipe sizes from 6 to 14 inches in diameter. Its complementary power conversion and charge management electronics maximizes the charging efficiency of lead-acid batteries. The EverGen® PowerStrap’s hinged construction and single bolt design takes only a few minutes to install.
II-VI’s broad portfolio of energy harvesting solutions includes EverGen® Energy Harvesters which convert small degrees of temperature difference into electrical power for wireless sensors and other micro-power devices. This reliable energy source offers a low-cost and zero-maintenance solution for wireless sensors and the Internet of Things.
II-VI will showcase its EverGen® Energy Harvesters at CES 2018, January 9-12, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV, Booth #2300 and the EverGen® PowerStrap™ Generator at the Global Petroleum Show June 12-14, 2018 at Stampede Park in Calgary, Canada.
