“Jane The Virgin” Season 5 will be the last installment for the satirical romantic comedy and fans are asking show creators if there’s a possibility of expanding the series further. However, executive producer Brad Silberling said that the upcoming season will definitely the last one for the show.
Silberling explained that they’ve always envisioned that “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 will conclude the story they’ve created and fans will undoubtedly love how the story sorts itself out. Show creator Jennie Snyder Urman echoed this statement.
“We’re very proud of the episodes,” Urman said. “I pitched the way it’s going to end when I pitched the show. We’re on the path that was the story I felt like I wanted to tell, so it’s exciting because we’re getting to that ending.” There will be a lot of loose ends that “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 needs to address, the most glaring of which is Michael’s (Brett Dier) return.
The finale of the previous installment saw that Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) deceased husband is actually alive. There are a lot of speculations thrown out there how Michael could’ve possibly survived his ordeal. However, the telenovela trope of using a previously unknown twin has already been shut down as confirmed by Urman herself. That leaves amnesia, kidnapping, and Michael’s police work among the possibilities that might come up in “Jane The Virgin” Season 5.
There’s also the fact that Rafael (Justin Baldoni) seems to possess knowledge that Michael is alive all this time. His demeanor and body language heavily suggested this when he finally broke the news to Jane. And since Rafael is in a serious relationship with Jane, Michael’s return has thrown a monkey wrench into their romance. Some fans are saying that Jane should choose Michael, while others are favoring Rafael as the best match for the would-be writer. As for the release date of “Jane The Virgin” Season 5, its mother network said that it will be airing on the spring of 2019.
