Jennifer Aniston has worked on a couple of projects with Netflix this year. Will this lead to a deal that will bring fans their much-requested “Friends” reboot?
Aniston leads the cast of the novel-turned-movie “Dumplin’” which started streaming on Netflix on Dec. 7. Earlier this year, the actress was in Europe filming for another upcoming movie called “Murder Mystery” with Adam Sandler which is also produced by Netflix. The entertainment streaming company also made headlines for reportedly paying up to $100 million to keep “Friends” on the platform for a year.
These factors might have fueled a recent rumor that Aniston and Netflix have been negotiating for a “Friends” reboot to be exclusively produced and distributed by the company. A source of In Touch claimed, “They’re making the cast offers that they can’t refuse, and Jen has been the only holdout. … But apparently executives at the streaming service are wearing her down, because they’re promising a quality reboot. It has to happen eventually — the entire world has been waiting for this.”
However, Gossip Cop followed up on the report and the avid fans of “Friends” might not like what they learned. The fact-checking media outlet reached out to a representative of Jennifer Aniston who debunked the claims made by the In Touch source and, ultimately, calling the report “made-up.”
Aniston is famously known for her numerous roles in romantic-comedy films. But after decades since “Friends” ended, many fans around the world still remembers her part in the very popular American sitcom.
Aside from Gossip Cop’s clarification, Aniston has also been asked several times during interviews about the possibility of a “Friends” reboot. Unfortunately, the actress did not have any good news for fans.
More recently, the actress appeared in “The Late Late Show with James Corden” where she shared some insight about the sitcom’s rumored return. “The girls always say we would love to do it again, and the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason,” Jennifer Aniston revealed.
