Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are quite the controversial reality TV stars as both have been accused of hypocrisy, close-mindedness, homophobia, and racism in the past. For instance, Dillard once posted a photo on Instagram that showed his son, Israel, playing with a bunch of blocks.
While the image itself wasn’t offensive, the caption sparked outrage from social media users. “Israel helping Trump build ‘The Wall.’ LOL!" Derick Dillard wrote. This drew the ire of several left-leaning individuals, accusing Dillard of supporting Trump and his twisted views regarding immigrants. Despite the backlash, Jill Duggar still supported her husband, although she tried to alleviate the situation herself, InTouch Weekly reported.
In another Instagram post, the reality star posted a photo of her goddaughter during a particular event. While Jill Duggar thought that this might stave off some of the hate that Derick Dillard accumulated following his previous posting, it actually made things worse.
In a nutshell, those who saw Jill Duggar’s post quickly took it as a poor attempt to use the child as a prop in order to show the world that she isn’t a racist. Another blunder that Derick Dillard made that took a nasty turn was his comments regarding TLC stars Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent.
"What a travesty of family," Derick Dillard wrote. "It's sad how blatant the liberal agenda is, such that it both highlights and celebrates a lifestyle so degrading to children on public television as if it should be normal." TLC, of course, let go of Jill Duggar’s husband as the comment wasn’t in line with the network’s own views.
But Derick Dillard insisted in multiple instances that he wasn’t fired but decided to part ways with the network as he felt the decision was best for Jill Duggar and their kids. Right now, the two are still together, with Dillard currently attending law school, trying to change the public’s view that he is contended with being an unemployed father.
