KT partners with Daesang Wellife to expand digital healthcare business in Vietnam

Nutrition

KT Corporation teamed up with Daesang Wellife Corp. to scale up its digital healthcare business in Vietnam to Southeast Asia. They are aiming to offer nutritional guidelines in addition to academic and clinical trial data while providing food to patients.

The Korea Economic Daily reported that KT Corp. and Daesang Wellife signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday, Nov. 7. With their agreement, they will now jointly work on the digital transformation (DX) of medical businesses, including telemedical services for cancer patients in Vietnam.

Daesang Wellife is a leading health brand in South Korea, and it will be the one to provide nutritional guidelines and food. Previously, this company was operating as Daesang Life Science and since 2020, it has been distributing its health products to supermarkets and medical institutions around Vietnam.

The health food firm will be producing healthy meals for cancer patients. It will also set up a digital platform where patients can avail of nutritional management services. Daesang Wellife will provide personalized meals that will be prepared based on the patient’s physical condition, as per Aju Business Daily.

On the other hand, KT Corp., a Korean telecom giant, is getting ready to bring contact-free care to post-surgery cancer patients through a telemedicine platform that it will launch in the country. The firm is currently developing this platform with Medi Plus Solution.

“Demand and spending on professional medical services are steadily increasing in Vietnam as its middle class grows,” Song Jae Ho, head of the KT AI/DX convergence business unit, said in a statement. “The cooperation with Daesang Wellife will allow us to supply comprehensive healthcare services, including diet management.”

It was in 2021 when KT agreed to the Vietnam National Cancer Institute’s request to carry out service demonstrations for gastric cancer patients. Now, the telecom firm is looking to expand its telemedicine business throughout Southeast Asia, with Vietnam as its starting point.

"In collaboration with Daesang Wellife, we hope to provide integrated healthcare services including dietary management in Vietnam," Song added.
