LG Electronics US announced that it would offer free streaming of shows and movies through LG Channels, an app for LG WebOS televisions that brings digital and over-the-air viewing broadcasts to customers.
LG Channels is exclusively powered by XUMO, and it smoothly puts together premium digital internet channels with the local broadcast or cable television lineup. Using this app, LG Electronics said that for the upcoming Halloween season, it would treat owners of LG TVs to free movie streaming and channels.
It will add three spooky-themed channels and Halloween Hub on LG smart TV devices, and owners can access them for free. One of the new channels that will debut this month is Gunpowder & Sky’s ALTER. The other two are Cinedigm’s Bloody Disgusting TV and BlueAnt Media’s Haunt TV2.
In addition, LG Channels will also offer free viewing of some popular horror and thriller films since the event is designed for Halloween. These will be available for a limited time only, so customers must view them before time’s up.
Some of the free movies to enjoy include “The Invasion,” “Murder By Numbers,” “The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” “Flatliners,” “The Green Hornet,” and “Single White Female.” For LG smart TV owners that hate scary flicks, LG Channels added other popular titles too, and these are “Fred Claus,” “Are We There Yet?” “Boiler Room,” “Can't Hardly Wait,” and “Rudy.”
People can easily access Halloween movies through the Halloween Hub on company-made smart television sets. At any rate, LG Channels continues to boost its content lineup, and just last month, it launched five new Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels, plus a dedicated NFL channel for the programming of classic games and news related to the league. LG is also aiming to broaden the presence of its streaming technology.
“Offering more than 350 free channels, LG Channels offers a wide selection of premium live and on-demand programming, including movies, TV shows, news, sports, children's programs, and more,” LG Electronics US said in a press release. “LG smart TV owners can easily discover their favorite programs by launching the LG Channels application on their LG TV's webOS platform.”
