“Last Man Standing” Season 7 is shaping up the groundwork where the sitcom stands on the longevity side of things. And looking at its numbers now, it seems that the comedy series isn’t going away anytime soon nor is FOX going to make the same mistake that ABC did.
It can be recalled that ABC axed the possibility of a “Last Man Standing” Season 7. ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey cited ratings and ownership structure as grounds for the show’s cancellation. A boisterous outcry soon followed after fans of the sitcom learned of ABC’s decision.
Massive support started appearing online, which ultimately led FOX to pick up the show. “Last Man Standing” Season 7 premiered last Sept. 28 and it gave the network its highest-rated Premiere Week Friday in seven years.
Now, “Last Man Standing” Season 7 has already released two episodes of the installment, with the third episode slated for release on Oct. 12. While the show has been written as a comedy series, the latest development was the opposite of this theme as Bud (Robert Forster) has now been written out, Carter Matt reported.
Moving forward in “Last Man Standing” Season 7, Mike (Tim Allen) will have to cope with the loss of his father, which he is choosing to do alone. But even though Bud has died, the character will still appear in a few more episodes as Mike’s conscience. These sequences will likely explore the guilt that Mike has over the death of his old man as he didn’t exactly have a gleaming relationship with his father.
Bud’s reappearance will also provide a closure for Mike. Of course, even though there is death in the family, the show will still have a lot of hilarious exchanges throughout the season. Bud’s death gives the writers a lot of opportunities to include dark humor in “Last Man Standing” Season 7, something that is rarely seen in the sitcom.
Of course, after all the jokes have been said and with Mike brushing off the death of his old man, it’s expected that the character will shed some tears at some point in the installment. The next episode of “Last Man Standing” Season 7 is titled “Giving Mike the Business,” a hint about the fate of the pot dispensary that Bud left behind.
