Marriott International has partnered with three digital artists, TXREK, JVY, and Erick Nicolay, to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) collection in an effort to lure more young and wealthy travelers.
The NFT collection was based on Marriot’s “Power of Travel” marketing campaign.
The project makes Marriott one of the first hospitality brands to participate in the metaverse.
Many of Marriot’s brands, such as the Ritz Carlton, Sheraton, and W, are synonymous with business. By participating in the Metaverse, Marriott wants to expand its audience to younger and wealthier travelers.
The NFTs from the three artists were unveiled at the modern and contemporary art fair in Miami Beach, Art Basel, in partnership with crypto payment platform MoonPay.
Three Art Basel attendees won the NFTs alongside 200,000 points from Marriott’s loyalty program Bonvoy.
The event also featured digital artist Kenny Schachter’s 14-foot-high digital booth with content from three other crypto artists in partnership with Galerie Nagel Draxler.
Blockchain platform Tezos also displayed NFTs as SuperRare auctioned augmented reality works, and Beeple participated in a talk, “15 Minutes of Forever? Art in the Age of the NFT”.
