Earlier this year, Motorola released the Moto Edge S in China. The phone is expected to have a version for the global market that is now speculated to be called the Motorola G100, and it could be officially announced next week.
Motorola G100 release date: Official launch expected on March 25
The Lenovo-owned phone brand is making headlines this week after it reportedly sent out invitations for an event before the month ends. The teaser image circulating online does not have many details other than telling fans to “save the date” with the date being March 25.

While there were no direct clues for any particular device to be announced next week, Motorola G100 is one of the likely products since it has entered the rumor mill way back in January. Well-known leaker Evan Blass reported through Voice earlier this year that the device, codenamed Tahoe, is one of the phones Motorola has in the pipeline.
The Motorola G100 rumors did not end there as a phone labeled “Moto G100” also appeared in a GeekBench benchmark result last month. On Monday, tech-focused publication Mobielkopen reported it obtained a set of supposed renders of a device of the same name. Not surprisingly, it looks very similar to the Moto Edge S with a quad-camera on the back and two hole-punch cameras for selfies.
Motorola G100 specs: What to expect
Last week, the official Twitter page for Motorola US released a 15-second teaser video seemingly hinting at an imminent smartphone announcement. It is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 5G chipset, which is the same processor the Moto Edge S has.

It is then possible for the Motorola G100 to sport the same technical specs as the Moto Edge S, which includes a 90Hz 6.7-inch IPS LCD and a 5000mAh battery. The upcoming device might also be released with three RAM and storage configurations — 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB.
The Motorola G100 rear-facing cameras could be composed of 64MP ultrawide, 16MP wide, 2MP depth, and Time of Flight (TOF) 3D sensors. As for the front-facing cameras, the Moto Edge S sports 16MP and 8MP sensors that could also be included in the upcoming phone.
