'Once Upon A Time' Season 5 Episode 13 Recap: Hook is in a difficult situation

The hit TV series ‘Once Upon A Time’ just keeps getting better and the stakes just keeps getting higher. In this week’s episode, it picked up where we left off where the team are still in the Underworld trying to find Hook and rescue him from the God of the Underworld, Hades. Here is a recap of last night’s episode, so if you haven’t watched it then beware because spoilers are lurking in this article.

We got to finally see Hook flesh and blood, well bloodied and bruised, as he is locked and kept by Hades in his kingdom. Emma and the team are still searching for his whereabouts when they stumbled upon an escaped prisoner from one of Hades’ prisons. It turned out that the girl was Megara and she was able to escape because of the help Hook.

Hook, even in the Underworld, is still his selfless state. As they were about to escape, he left his self behind and distracted Cerberus, the three headed beast that guards the prison cell, and allowed Meg to run for her “life”. Hook, on the other hand, was recaptured and brought back to Hades.

The team discovered that the way to Hook was through the defeat of Cerberus, thus Mary Margaret seeks out Hercules, whom she met (in flashbacks) when she was a princess, and not yet a bandit. Hercules leads the heroes to the tunnels and makes a run at the beast, but quickly turns heel frightened. It turned out that he was killed by the beast which made him fail his 12 Labors and prevented him from seeing his father in Olympus.

Mary Margaret challenged Hercules to finish his job and with Meg’s help, when Cerberus comes crashing through the doors of the library where they have holed up, they attack all three heads at once, vanquishing the beast.

With the death of the beast, the unfinished business of Hercules and of Meg was now done and they were able to pass on to Olympus. This signified yet another loss of soul in the Underworld and greatly infuriated Hades. He made Hook become accountable with the number of souls lost and whenever one soul leaves his realm, another living shall replace it. And now Hook has to choose who the person will be.
