Producers have also announced for the first time the official release date of “One Piece: Stampede.” The 20th-anniversary movie will premiere in Japan theaters on Aug. 9, 2019. It is important to note that the “One Piece” anime series first hit the air on Oct. 20, 1999.
Details about the release of “One Piece: Stampede’s” in other regions, including North America, is still unknown. Theatrical films based on manga and anime series are typically originally released in the Japanese language and English-dubbed version usually follows after a few months. With that, fans can speculate that the movie will become available to other parts of the world within 2019 as well.
Meanwhile, plot details for “One Piece: Stampede” are yet to be released. But ComicBook reported that the upcoming movie will be somehow tied to the storyline and setting shown in the two latest movies namely “One Piece Film: Z” and “One Piece Film: Gold.”
Even franchise creator Eiichiro Oda’s attachment to the 2019 movie is still unclear. But with a project celebrating the anime series’ milestone like “One Piece: Stampede,” Oda is most likely involved in its production in some ways.
The same report suggested, based on the “One Piece: Stampede” official poster, that the Straw Hats will encounter some sort of a “mechanoid creature.” And with Luffy’s famous hat aimlessly flying through the air, this could mean that the fan-favorite pirate's crew is in grave danger.
