“Outlander” Season 4 is almost here and more details about the return of fantasy’s hottest time-traveling couple are still being revealed. For starters, it would appear that the “slippery rock” scene that is often considered to be a fan-favorite has been changed a bit. Details with regards to recreating North Carolina in Scotland were also shared.
Speaking to TV Insider recently, executive producer Maril Davis revealed that some details in “Outlander” Season 4 have been changed compared to how they went in the books. Specifically, there are changes to the “slippery rock” scene where Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jaimie (Sam Heughan) are supposed to have a rather steamy session.
“We know fans are looking forward to the ‘slippery rock’ scene where it’s a humid day and Claire is bathing by the river,” Davis said. “But we can’t do it exactly like the book.”
As to what these changes are, the producer refused to provide more specific details. However, it was also revealed that numerous other scenes were changed up in order to provide even book readers with a fresh experience. After all, even if fans of both the show and the books want the adaptation to remain loyal to the source material, some compromises should be expected. This is exactly what happened in “Outlander” Season 4.
Sam Heughan also recently spoke to ET to share some details as to what it was like to film in Scotland while trying to portray North Carolina. It would seem that the similarities between the two places are uncanny. Viewers might not even be able to tell the difference when “Outlander” Season 4 airs on Nov. 4 on Starz.
“We’re shooting in Scotland but it’s just been incredible how perfectly Scotland doubles for North Carolina. Before we started shooting, I actually went to North Carolina and checked it out and it’s just incredible to see the similarities with the forests and the mountain ranges. I think people are going to be pretty shocked when they find out,” the actor said.
