“Outlander” season 5 has been confirmed along with the sixth installment. Starz Network gave the go-ahead last year while the production team was still preparing for season 4. Since they have already known that they will continue, the cast and crew immediately went back to the set after a brief break following the fourth sequel’s finale.
“Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in Seasons 5 and 6, as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World,” The Hollywood Reporter quoted Starz CEO, Chris Albrecht as saying in a statement.
Now that “Outlander” season 5 is sure to arrive, there are many questions about what will happen next. Most want to know if the villainous pirate, Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers) is coming back and if he will, what will happen to Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin).
According to Express, those who already read Diana Gabaldon’s fifth book titled “The Fiery Cross” know that Stephen Bonnet will return because that was what they read in the novel. In the said book where “Outlander” season 5 is going to be based, the pirate who raped Brianna will wreak havoc by causing more troubles for the Frasers and Mackenzies.
However, readers commented that although this was what happened in the book, there is a chance that the writers of “Outlander” season 5 will change the story a bit. In other words, it is not sure how the drama will closely follow the plot in the books but for sure the pirate will return.
In fact, in the finale of season 4, Murtagh Fitzgibbons (Duncan Lacroix) was able to get a hold of Bonnet since Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) secretly asked him this favor. He also instructed his godfather to bring him the pirate so he can personally punish him. However, there were suggestions that Bonnet will kill Murtagh so the villain will run free again and will cause trouble for Brianna and her family once again in “Outlander” season 5.
One of the plot predictions is that Bonnet will go to Riverrun and try to kidnap baby Jeremiah. Later, he will also try to abduct Brianna but she will fight and shoot her rapist. From there it is not certain if Bonnet will survive or not in “Outlander” season 5.
Meanwhile, Brianna and Roger reunited in season 4 but their reunion will be short-lived. Did he changed his mind again and decided to go back to his time? We will only know the answer once “Outlander” season 5 returns.
