It has been quite an unusual year for Google, especially when it comes to its schedule and strategies with this year’s lineup of Pixel smartphones. As promised, however, Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G are going to be launched in the fall, most likely during its announced event on Sept. 30.
Made by Google event 2020: The when and the where
Google’s I/O Conference was one of the major tech events that failed to proceed earlier this year due to COVID-19. The event, which annually happens in May, was canceled as early as March and Google later announced it will not hold any replacement or virtual event. So when it announced the “Launch Night In” event happening this week, many were worried it would not be streamed online. Luckily, that is not the case.
The Launch Night in the event that appears to be this year’s version of the annual Made by Google event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 30. This schedule is a few weeks early than the previous Google events in the fall. Despite the event’s name, it will happen in the morning, at 11 a.m. Pacific Time.
Tech fans can watch the virtual event online through the official Launch Night In page. The website is now live, but there are no media content to watch yet. But if page visitors press any key on their keyboard, the site will play some calming music for them.
Another easy way to watch the launch of Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G is through the Launch Night In stream page hosted on YouTube. This is also now live and offers a “Remind me” button so fans will not miss out on the announcements. Those who cannot tune in live can visit both pages at a later time to watch the entire event.
What to expect from Google’s annual fall product launch event
Google is not the best when it comes to preventing specs sheets, prototypes, and designs from leaking online. The specs and features on Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G have already been reported in detail, but Google might still have a few surprises under wraps.
Aside from these smartphones, Google is also anticipated to unveil a new Chromecast, which reportedly became available for orders on some retailers a few days before it was even announced. Google could also announce a new smart speaker under the Nest brand.
