‘Prison Break’ Mini-series Cast, Updates: Dominic Purcell Breaks Nose while Filming in Morocco; 3 New Characters Introduced

Cast of 'Prison Break', Starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell

‘Prison Break’ actor Dominic Purcell broke his nose and sustained other injuries while filming in Morocco for the upcoming mini-series intended to revive the popular television series. Meanwhile, three new characters will also be introduced.

According to Hall of Fame Magazine, Purcell sustained injuries on the Morocco film set when an iron bar fell on his head. He also got his nose broken in the process.

Purcell posted a photograph on Instagram detailing how grateful he was to have beau AnnaLynne McCord on set to help him following the accident.

He wrote, “Thank god my love@theannalynnemccord was there when my unfortunate accident occurred on set. She went into raging #momma mode along with #christinanorthup and got me the right care. Show goes on. No worries !!! Oh being airlifted out on a helicopter was another adventure I didn't expect. Thought the bloody thing was going to fall from the sky!!! What a day it was. Grateful to be alive.”

Principal photography for the mini-series takes place in various locales around Morocco – specifically Casablanca, Ouarzazate, and Rabat. According to Morocco World News, filming will continue until June 17, 2016 as stated by Morocco’s Cinematographic Center.

Purcell portrays lead character Lincoln Burrows in the series. Lincoln was introduced as a high school dropout and convicted felon, who is wrongfully accused of murdering the U.S. Vice President’s brother. His own brother, Michael Scofield, then devises an elaborate plan to break him out of prison.

Other cast members joining him for the series reboot include Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield, Sarah Wayne Callies as Dr. Sara Tancredi, Robert Knepper, who played Theodore "T-Bag" Pagwell, Rockmond Dunbar as Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin, and Amaury Nolasco as Fernando Sucre.

The nine-episode mini-series will reveal that Michael is still alive after being presumed dead after the season 4 finale. Lincoln tells Sara that Michael lives and he heads on to Morocco to find Michael imprisoned. In a twist of fate, it is then his turn to bust his brother out.

According to MNR Daily, three new characters will also be added as revealed by the series’ writers through their official Twitter page. These include Sid played by Kunal Sharma, Mustapha played by Bobby Naderi, and Whip played by Augustus Prew. No additional details have been released regarding the three.

‘Prison Break’ is an action-drama television series created by Paul Scheuring. It was produced by Adelstein-Parouse Productions, in association with Original Television and 20th Century Fox Television
