‘Rizzoli and Isles’ Season 7 Premieres June 6; Angie Harmon Talks Directing 100th Episode, Growing Up on the Series

Sasha Alexander, Bruce McGill, Janet Tamaro and Angie Harmon

‘Rizzoli and Isles’ season 7, season 1 is scheduled to premiere on June 6. Angie Harmon, who plays lead character Jane Rizzoli, expressed her excitement over directing the series’ 100th episode as well as talked about “growing up” on the series.

TNT’s police procedural drama series is set to make another comeback on the small screen with the final season’s first episode entitled “Two Shots: Move Forward”. The episode synopsis stated, “In the aftermath of a shooting, the team must use every tool at their disposal to find Alice Sands and bring her to justice before she destroys Jane’s life.”

It seems that the desperation to capture Alice will put an end to the threat on Jane Rizzoli’s (Angie Harmon) life. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, season 6’s cliffhanger finale found Jane realizing that Alice was the woman obsessed with going after her and she worried over her predator’s release from prison.

Alice’s motivation for attempting to ruin Jane’s life stemmed from the fact that she was always bitter at being second only to Jane in the police academy that they both attended in the past. It was also revealed that although Alice came from a distinguished law enforcement family, she dropped out from the academy and turned to running a drug ring.

Meanwhile, another article on Movie News Guide suggested that one of the characters may find a new love interest in the incoming season. It was speculated that either Jane or Maura will be involved in a new romantic relationship.

‘Rizzoli and Isles’ season 7 will run for 13 episodes in total, with Harmon and co-star Sasha Alexander getting the chance to direct the 100th episode in the series.

During an interview with Channel Guide Magazine, Harmon expressed her excitement over the helming the special episode. She said, “Jane has to go undercover in a women’s prison, which is something that we’ve never done before. I’ve got a tattoo going up my neck and down my arm and the whole nine yards, so I’m excited about that. I’m excited to be in the thick of it, but also to be watching it from the other side of the camera and directing.”

Harmon also explained her evolution from a “naïve child” into a grown up throughout the series. She said, “When I started this show, I was in a very different place in all things… I was a child essentially, in a lot of ways, and I’m not anymore… I mean, my friends here, they tell me they’re super proud of the person that I’ve become and they’ve watched what I’ve gone through.”

The 43-year old model and actress also revealed that season 7 will be unique from its predecessors since it will finally give its characters some necessary closure. She said, “Personally, as a viewer, I want to know what’s going to happen to the characters after it’s over and done with, because you’ve lived with the characters for a long time. I think that everyone’s going to be pretty happy about all of our futures.”

‘Rizzoli and Isles’ is set to premiere episode 1 in season 7 on June 6 on TNT.
