Reports about the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE launch suggest it will not be unveiled until next year. However, a new report may have already leaked more details about its technical specifications, including a smaller screen size and a new main camera.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE rumored specs
The latest leak suggests there may be more changes to expect in Galaxy S21 FE compared to its 2020 predecessor based on the Galaxy S20 series. CoinBRS reports that the device would sport a 6.4-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2340) display. That is slightly smaller than the Galaxy S20 FE, which shipped with a 6.5-inch screen. Samsung is expected to maintain a 120Hz refresh rate and a hole-punched cutout in the center for the selfie camera.
The rear camera array is another area where the Galaxy S21 FE may be getting a significant improvement. The device is rumored to sport a 64MP main camera, along with unspecified depth and ultra-wide sensors. Note that the Galaxy S20 FE featured 12MP wide-angle, 12MP ultra-wide, and 8MP telephoto lenses. Meanwhile, the upcoming phone will retain a 32MP selfie camera.
The same report agrees with earlier leaks that the Galaxy S21 FE will be available in two variants powered by Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100, depending on which region they will be sold. It was recently claimed that Samsung plans on shipping Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S22 devices to more regions next year, but it is unclear if the same change applies to the mid-range phone.
While Samsung has been testing beta versions of the One UI 4.0 based on Android 12, it appears that Galaxy S21 FE will not come off the box with the latest software. The leak mentioned it would launch with Android 11, but Samsung may eventually deploy an Android 12 update for the device.
Galaxy S21 FE is also anticipated to maintain other specs and features that were available in the Galaxy S20 FE. The upcoming mid-range phone is rumored to sport a 4500mAh battery, support for 15W fast charging (wireless), and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE possible release date
While details about the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE are appearing in the wild now, it is expected to be released in January 2022. Leaker Jon Prosser previously reported that Samsung might host a Galaxy Unpacked event on Jan. 4, where it will be unveiled. But its retail launch is rumored to be on Jan. 11.
