“Shrek 5” is coming, and this was confirmed by DreamWorks Animations after Comcast-NBCUniversal acquired the studio. As soon as the purchase was completed, it was announced that the company would begin working at once to release lots of animated movies.
Steve Burke, NBC Universal’s CEO, declared that Chris Meledandri had been assigned to take care of the animated movies that they will be released under the new management. Meledandri was the man behind the production of blockbuster animated films like “Despicable Me” and “Minions.”
Now, “Shrek 5” is one of the films that will be rebooted and it will get its new writer. Michael McCullers will now work on the 2016 hit animation, and it was said that they are aiming to present a completely new “Shrek.” They want to reinvent so the viewers can expect to see a different story when it arrives in theaters.
Plot
As mentioned, “Shrek 5” will be reinvented so the concept will be something new. It was not disclosed how different it would be from the previous sequels, NBC Universal promised that it would present fresh storylines that the new generation of moviegoers will like.
Talking about the upgraded storyline of “Shrek 5,” Variety quoted Meledandri as saying, “When you look back on those vocal performances they’re awesome, and while you certainly could make a case for a complete reinvention, I find myself responding to my own nostalgic feelings of wanting to go back to those characterizations.”
“The challenge for us has been to find something that really does feel like it’s not simply yet another film in a series of sequels,” he added,
Release Date
“Shrek 5” has no official premiere date yet but as suggested on OtakuKart, it may hit the cinemas this year. The trailer is also expected to drop this summer.
