‘Star Wars’ Episode 9 Air Date, Spoilers: Keri Russel Confirmed for Ninth Installment While Natalie Portman Rumored to Return as Padmé Amidala

Star Wars

“Star Wars Episode 9” will return with a new cast and possibly a returning character. It was said that “The Americans” star Keri Russell would be joining the sci-fi drama however it was not mentioned what character she will be playing.

Mirror reported that there is no announcement yet with regards to the role that will be given to her for “Star Wars Episode 9.” There are predictions that she will be one of the Jedi Knights but it is also possible that she would be enlisted as Rey’s mother.

A YouTuber revealed that there is a leaked image of what Keri Russell will wear in “Star Wars Episode 9.” He described the actress’ costume as a black robe similar to what the Knights of Ren wear and Luke Skywalker also worn this before. It was noted that there is also a belt for a lightsaber thus it is likely that she would be a Knight of Ren called Mara.

In related news, it was rumored that Natalie Portman is making a comeback on “Star Wars Episode 9.” The actress left the film franchise more than a decade ago and it was said that she will return to reprise her role as Padmé Amidala. Fans easily believed this report because they think that her character really needs to come back in order to cleanly wrap up the Skywalker Saga.

So, will Natalie Portman really return as Padmé Amidala? The actress addressed the rumor in her recent interview with the Buzzfeed on Dec. 20.

When asked if she will be on “Star Wars Episode 9,” Natalie Portman seemed to have denied the reports when she said that she is actually clueless. In fact, it appears that the actress only heard about the news that day.

“Oh really? I don't know anything about that,” Natalie told the host. "I'm guessing that's not true because I don't know about it yet.”

Meanwhile, CNET shared that “Star Wars Episode 9” is arriving in theaters on Dec. 20, 2019, for its world premiere.
