Day 1 patches are nothing new in the gaming industry, so for “Super Mario Maker 2” to receive one is not completely strange. However, it appears that Nintendo will have to issue another patch soon after a familiar game-breaking bug was spotted on the game’s official release date.
“Super Mario Maker 2” is available in stores on Friday. Just as it happens, Nintendo rolls out update 1.0.1. The issues that were fixed by this patch were not specified in the release notes. But Nintendo says it is needed “make for a more pleasant gaming experience.”
To install the “Super Mario Maker 2” update 1.0.1, players need to make sure that their Nintendo Switch has access to a reliable internet connection. If so, launching the game on the console will automatically start the installation of the patch. The version number 1.0.1 should be visible on the title screen once the update is successfully done.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Life reports that it is yet to be verified if the “Super Mario Maker 2” update 1.0.1 has also provided a fix on the game-breaking glitch witnessed on a video of Twitch streamer CaptianMK. As can be seen in the 47:35 mark of the video stream, the bug is triggered when the chosen character is facing front, holding an item, and lands on Yoshi and a Fire Flower at the same time. In a matter of seconds, the game crashes and players will have to restart the game.
The said bug does not seem like it has serious effects on the overall gaming experience. However, gaming fans who saw how the bug works recall that it was actually present in “Super Mario Maker 2’s” same title predecessor. Nintendo has yet to comment on the issue and reveal whether or not the glitch will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
