“Supergirl” Season 4 is set to premiere on Oct. 14 and it will herald new things for the superhero action-adventure. For instance, the series has been moved to Sundays, something that is heavily emphasized by The CW, Carter Matt reported.
While this move is seemingly new to the network, it was actually quite the norm a decade ago, when original programming had such a schedule. One of the reasons that The CW decided to have “Supergirl” Season 4 air on Sundays is that the network now has a diverse pool of original shows.
The transition is expected to cause some turbulence for the superhero drama with regards to the ratings it’s going to receive. The CW is heavily promoting “Supergirl” Season 4 with regards to its new timeslot in order for audiences to know when to watch Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) in action.
Aside from its new schedule, “Supergirl” Season 4 is also going to introduce the first ever transgender superhero depicted on television. This superhero will come in the form of Nia Nal a.k.a. Dreamer (Nicole Maines). The character is described as a fierce individual who has a strong desire to help others.
“Supergirl” Season 4 will have Nia realize her true destiny much in the same way that Kara transitioned from her normal life into crime-fighting. Nia will also be part of the CatCo reporting team, a new addition who will shake things up in the agency.
Promotional images have been released by The CW to bring on buzz for “Supergirl” Season 4. The new images feature Kara being surrounded by shady masked individuals while she’s chained into the dock.
As for the plot, “Supergirl” Season 4 will follow Mercy Graves (Rhona Mitra) and her brother Otis (Robert Baker), who will be the antagonists in the upcoming installment since Lex Luthor is now behind bars. Graves will be the new face of the “human first” movement, which will be an allusion to the brewing political discord that is happening in the real world.
