For years, Suri Cruise has lived a relatively quiet life despite being the daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. This is due to the fact that Holmes is quite protective of her daughter given what they went through when she was still married with the “Mission Impossible” alum.
After the couple officially separated in 2012, Tom Cruise quickly dropped out of his daughter’s life. While there aren’t any confirmed statements from the “Jack Reacher” actor, it’s believed that his decision to stay away from Suri Cruise’s life is due to his ties with the Church of Scientology.
Although the custody agreement allowed Tom Cruise to visit his 12-year-old daughter for 10 days each month, the actor hasn’t done so for the last five years. The last time that the actor was seen with Suri Cruise was in September 2013, a year after his divorce with Katie Holmes was made official.
So what is exactly is the reason why Tom Cruise has stayed away from Suri’s life? Allegedly, the Church of Scientology forbids him to see Suri Cruise as Katie Holmes has been branded as a Suppressive Person (SP).
According to the organization, an SP is someone who possesses an anti-social personality. The website of the group lists Napoleon, Hitler, and drug lords as people who are considered within this category. However, the description went on to add other individuals who are living within society itself as well. Apparently, Katie Holmes falls within this classification. And since Suri Cruise’s mother is branded as such, Tom Cruise is supposedly instructed to stay away from both.
Again, there’s no confirmation that this is the case and Tom Cruise could have a whole different reason for distancing himself away from the young teen. So far, it seems that Suri Cruise is growing up just fine without a father figure as Katie Holmes is meticulously providing everything that her daughter needs.
Right now, Suri Cruise is attending the Sacred Heart Catholic School where Katie Holmes encourage her to participate in extra-curricular activities. This is in direct opposition of what the Church of Scientology teaches as the organization doesn’t allow its members to participate in such activities.
But Katie Holmes doesn’t appear to nudge her daughter towards these practices to slight the organization. Instead, the “Dawson Creek” alum merely wants Suri Cruise to grow up as a well-rounded individual.
