Taylor Swift's dating history has been the entertainment industry's source of spectacles back in the day prior to Joe Alwyn entering her life. But even with the Swift-loving no longer public as often, it seems that the Hollywood gossip machine is not giving up one of its most popular sources of juicy rumors.
According to a story recently making the rounds in gossip circles, Taylor Swift has been having trouble keeping her image in the spotlight due to unspecified “insecurities.” The rumors claim that Swift's “insecurities” have gotten so bad that it was only through Joe Alwyn's help that Taylor Swift mustered enough courage to perform at the 2018 American Music Awards. It seems that the story wants to paint the picture of knowing more about the ins and outs of Swift and Alwyn's relationship at the expense of creating unreal conflict in Taylor Swift's life.
Gossip Cop points out how the rumor about Taylor Swift having insecurities about being in the spotlight is untrue. According to the publication, Swift was not present at any recent music awards prior to the 2018 AMA because Swift did not have an album to promote since she released “1989” back in 2014. In addition, Taylor Swift does not have insecurities that needed Joe Alwyn to soothe as her track record of promoting her recent “Reputation” album has been at the forefront of Taylor Swift news.
The lack of Taylor Swift visibility that the rumors are claiming could be tied to the fact that Swift has become more private about her current relationships. In comparison to Swift's past relationships with Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Lautner – which were the subject of heavy media attention during their time – her relationship with Joe Alwyn has been particularly lukewarm, with rarely a public sighting of the couple.
Both Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have already made public statements about their desire to not discuss their relationship publicly. It also seems that both of them are mature enough to stay out of the public eye as often as possible while still enjoying each other's company. This is a stark contrast to the highly visible pre-Alwyn relationships that Swift had.
It seems that fans and the media are just not getting the same amount of excitement from the Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn era. The claim that Swift needs to get propped up by Joe Alwyn is just the gossip industry's way of compensating for the lack of verifiable stories about the young couple. Fans will just have to accept that Taylor Swift's relationship with Joe Alwyn is not going to open up to fans anytime soon.
