Tesla Advances on Unique Diner and Drive-In Theater, Supercharger Kick Off Interior Work

Work on interiors begins for Tesla's groundbreaking diner and drive-in theater project in LA.

Tesla's ambitious project, combining a diner, drive-in movie theater, and Supercharger station in Los Angeles, is taking shape with interior construction work underway, showcasing the company's innovative approach to enhancing the electric vehicle charging experience.

Tesla Diner and Drive-In Theater Gears Up for Interior Construction and Installation

In a recent report by Teslarati, a drone video update on March 24 by YouTube channel 247Tesla shows new sheetrock stacks inside and outside the Tesla diner building's entrances as construction prepares to shift its focus to the interior. The video also shows a new rectangular area dug about five feet into the ground, which the host believes will be used to control water runoff.

You can also see shots of the site's power shed, which lacks transformers and batteries. According to the host, the diner building's walls surrounding the first-floor structure have also been coated with a waterproofing sealer, which is typically applied before stucco is applied.

In addition, they shared a video detailing some of the work on the diner building's top deck finish and seating, as well as shots of the first two movie theater projector screens being installed.

Tesla's "Milliways" Supercharger: A Fusion of Nostalgia and Innovation in LA

The upcoming Supercharger, located at 7001 West Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, is not just your typical charging station. It's a 1950s-style diner, a drive-in movie theater with clips, and approximately 32 Supercharger stalls for Tesla owners to charge. This unique concept, which Tesla started constructing in September, is a testament to its innovative spirit and commitment to providing a holistic experience for its customers.

The diner, affectionately nicknamed "Milliways" in renders after the iconic Restaurant at the End of the Universe in the novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is not just a place to eat. It's a journey back in time, with waiters on roller skates, rock and roll music, and a highlight reel of the best scenes in movie history. This unique blend of nostalgia and innovation is a testament to CEO Elon Musk's visionary thinking and commitment to creating memorable experiences for Tesla owners.
