“The Last of Us Part 2” still doesn’t have a release date yet despite game director Neil Druckmann churning out a continuous update about the sequel. However, if the recent rumor is to be believed, we may be getting new information about the game in the next few weeks.
The source of the rumor is Aokiji, a leaker who accurately provided information regarding the previous State of Play before Sony announced anything. According to them, Sony is planning to reveal important details about “The Last of Us Part 2” before E3 2019 takes place.
And since the upcoming event has been scheduled to kick off on June 11, this new information appears to be a few weeks away. Or if the prediction of others proves true, it might even be tomorrow as Sony recently announced that the State of Play will be occurring on May 9. However, it’s best to lower expectations for now as the presentation will reportedly last 10 minutes. Of course, with Sony dropping that bombshell of an update regarding PlayStation 5 out of nowhere, there’s still a chance that “The Last of Us Part 2” might peek its head tomorrow.
At least, that’s what we want anyway. But it is curious that leaks about “The Last of Us Part 2” have been increasing in the past few months, especially amidst Druckmann’s announcements that they’re making considerable progress with the sequel’s development.
The director said in 2017 that “The Last of Us Part 2” was 50-60 percent complete. Hopefully, something substantial is provided tomorrow – or in the coming days – as fans of the series have been waiting six years for the sequel. As for its release date, there’s strong evidence that the title will be dropping sometime in the last quarter of 2019. Of course, since Naughty Dog hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, it’s best to take all of these with a grain of salt. Whatever the case, we’ll just have to see tomorrow what Sony will be revealing during the State of Play.
