It has been two years since “The OA” debuted on Netflix but the wait for season 2 is expected to end this year. Brit Marling’s online post showing her to-do list sparked this speculation.
Marling, the series co-creator and actor playing the titular role, recently shared photos on her Instagram page including a list of her recent tasks. The items on the paper are mostly, presumably, for the making of “The OA” season 2.
At the time of the posting, Marling had already marked several tasks as done. These include the “playback of chapter 7” along with words “soundmix and notes” and reviewing the cut for chapter 8’s ending as well as its video effects. Another completed task on her list was checking in with the person supposedly in charge with the key art for “The OA” season 2. Marlin did confirm in the same Instagram post that the to-do list was related to her work for the series.
Eagle-eyed fans have observed that these tasks are typically part of a show’s post-production phase. This means that the “The OA” season 2 is near its completion, which is not surprising since filming reportedly started in January 2018.
Since they are apparently putting the finishing touches and applying revisions to “The OA” season 2, expecting it to premiere later this year is not too far-fetched. There is even a chance that Netflix would choose to release it close to the date when the first season dropped, which was Dec. 16 in 2016.
The first season ended with several cliffhangers including a foiled mass shooting at the protagonists’ school. It was implied that performing The Movements helped stopped the tragic event. But OA was shot while watching everything from outside the school’s cafeteria and told the others she feels like going to another dimension. The entire episode ended with OA calling for Homer (Emory Cohen) that might be suggesting he has a bigger role in “The OA” season 2.
