In the episode of “The Resident” season 2 next week, Chastain Park Memorial Hospital will be "flooded" with victims of a stampede. Meanwhile, Fox confirmed it has extended the show to a full season with 22 episodes.

The fourth episode of “The Resident” season 2 will show the residents of Chastain on another hectic day. The teaser for next week suggests that the episode will highlight a nearby music festival where a tragic stampede takes place.

The tragedy means Chastain's medical staff will be busy for a while. Based on the words used in the “The Resident” season 2 episode 4 synopsis, the number of doctors and medical practitioners at Chastain might not be enough to accommodate every patient immediately.

Meanwhile, a shakeup in Chastain’s staff might also be happening in “The Resident” season 2. Episode 4’s synopsis says Bell (Bruce Greenwood) “stirs the pot” as Kitt Voss (Jane Leeves) expresses disappointment and wants to have a better resident.

So far, Bell has not been on the good side of the other characters. But the new medical device rep in “The Resident” season 2, Julian (Jenna Dewan), seems to always find a way to make people like her. Next week, Julian will attempt to do the same with Bell.

The other staff of Chastain will have their own cases in “The Resident” season 2 episode 4. Conrad (Matt Czuchry) and Nic (Emily VanCamp) will attend to a familiar patient named Josh Robinson (Tanc Sade). Meanwhile, Devon (Manish Dayal) deals with a patient who was possibly drugged. Episode 4 is titled “About Time” and will be released on Monday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

In other news, Fox announced this week that it has ordered nine more episodes of “The Resident” season 2, bringing the total episode count up to 22. In a statement, the TV company said, “Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan and the amazing team behind ‘The Resident’ have brilliantly offered viewers the ability to see the medical industry through a different lens. We can’t wait to watch the exceptional cast, as they continue to roam the halls of Chastain Memorial Hospital.”
