“The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4 is looking to be the beginning of a major rift between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan). Rick seems to have a hard time keeping everything in order and peaceful as Maggie and the other survivors are still fixated on vengeance.
An impending falling-out between Maggie and Rick was confirmed by the cast even before the current season premiered. Now, the “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4 promo hints that this major disagreement could escalate next week.
The preview for “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4 shows Maggie making the ultimate push to take out Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). She shortly comes back to the HQ to fetch a crossbow and then starts her travel to Alexandria, where Negan is currently jailed.
Maggie is discreetly moving for obvious reasons. But her conversation with Jesus (Tom Payne) shown in an extended “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4 preview reveals her real motive for going to Alexandria.
Like many others, Jesus does not agree it is Rick’s sole right to decide on what happens to Negan. However, Jesus is not fully on board with what Maggie has in mind either. In the end, his mini pep talk does not seem to convince Maggie to stay away from Negan in “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4.
Jesus reports to Rick about his conversation with Maggie through Jerry (Cooper Andrews). Rick tells Maggie over the radio that they should talk, which is also heard by Rachel (Mimi Kirkland) who is guarding the post in Alexandria. Unfortunately for Rick, Rachel smugly comments that Maggie is "done talking" and preventing the vengeful character from reaching Negan is unlikely happening in “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4.
It now looks like one of the biggest mysteries in “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4 is whether or not Maggie gets close enough to Negan to deliver his death sentence. Meanwhile, back at the HQ, Rick faces other issues, including the unfinished bridge. Another snippet from the preview also shows Rick and Daryl (Norman Reedus) caught up in a fist fight.
With all the events that are going to unfold in “The Walking Dead” season 9 episode 4, the list of possible causes of Rick’s departure is getting longer. But it is unlikely that next week’s installment will be his last. New episodes of the zombie apocalypse-themed series air on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
