U.S. President Donald Trump stated that military aid to Ukraine was not discussed during his recent call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite the Kremlin’s claims that Putin urged an end to U.S. support for Kyiv. Trump made the remarks in an interview on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle.
Putin agreed to temporarily halt attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure but stopped short of endorsing a full 30-day ceasefire—something Trump hoped would pave the way for a lasting peace deal. Ukraine expressed support for the limited truce.
Following the call, the Kremlin emphasized that any resolution of the conflict must include halting all U.S. military and intelligence aid to Ukraine. However, Trump denied the topic was discussed, stating, "We didn’t talk about aid at all."
The U.S. is Ukraine’s largest military donor, having provided or allocated over $70 billion in assistance since January 2022, including $15 billion in heavy weaponry, according to the Kiel Institute. Washington’s support remains critical as Ukraine continues to resist Russia’s full-scale invasion, which began in February 2022.
Trump's comments and Putin’s stance raise questions about future U.S. support for Ukraine, with potential implications for the ongoing war and global security.
