“Valheim” has surpassed another record in terms of copies sold in under two months. To treat fans, Iron Gate released the first teaser for the game’s anticipated first content update currently known as “Hearth and Home.”
‘Valheim’ developers reveals cryptic teaser for ‘Hearth and Home’ update
Iron Gate confirmed in a new blog post that “Valheim” has sold six million units since it launched on Steam Early Access last February 2. The massive increase in active players within a short period may have brought up new gameplay and server issues that developers needed to address first.
The developer also noted that the small team needed to work from home probably due to the ongoing pandemic. Iron Gate needed to address bugs and fix other aspects of the game, but the studio has good news with regards to the first “Valheim” content update. “Much of our focus has been on play testing and bug fixing, but as things are calming down since launch, we can spend more time working on our first big update,” the developer said.
On that note, Iron Gate did not leave “Valheim” players hanging and gave a small teaser for the “Hearth and Home” update. Fans should manage their expectations, though, as the latest teaser does not say much about the upcoming content patch. Iron Gate’s lead artist provided a cryptic image that shows a bird with sharp eyes atop a pointy ridge of a roof.
Players might get more clues from an earlier interview with Iron Gate co-founder Henrik Törnqvist on PC Gamer. “Hearth and Home” is named as the first content update for the game’s 2021 roadmap. The developer described the update to focus on “Valheim’s” house building and food preparation. It means new building pieces and new recipes are some of the likely contents included in “Hearth and Home.” With very little detail provided about the first content update this year, it was not surprising that Iron Gate has also yet to confirm its release date.

Iron Gate named three more content updates in the “Valheim” 2021 roadmap, including “Cult of the Wolf,” “Saga Worthy Seas, Even More Ships,” and “Voyage to the Mistlands.” The last update could be one of the biggest updates on the list as it is promised to add an all-new biome called Mistlands. But just like “Hearth and Home,” these updates do not have release windows yet.
