“Valorant” patch 2.08 introduces a new map, named Breeze, where players can hold their battles while enjoying nice views of the ocean. Riot Games is also introducing other new gameplay features, including the addition of “coach slots” in some game modes.
‘Valorant’ is getting a new map
As shown in the latest “Valorant” trailers, the new map is fittingly called Breeze as it mainly features a compound on a remote island. Other sources have also pointed out that the fictional location’s coordinates are 25°00'00.0"N 71°00'00.0"W, which places it in the Atlantic Ocean and off the Bahamas coast.
Aside from the bright and colorful environment, Breeze mainly features “wide open spaces.” This means “Valorant” players will have plenty of room to find vantage points to engage in long-range gunfights.
The anticipation on the map’s launch is understandable considering the lukewarm response to “Valorant’s” previously added map Icebox. At first glance, the differences between Breeze and Icebox in terms of animation and overall appearance are easily noticeable.
“We felt pretty confident making the decision to move forward with Breeze just because we felt like what it would introduce to the game is fresh and exciting,” Riot Games’ level design lead Salvatore Garozzo told the Washington Post. “And it’s just going to help us learn a lot about the limits of the combat spaces.”
To celebrate the addition of the new map, “Valorant” patch 2.08 will initiate a Breeze-only Unrated queue that will run for two weeks. This should be a good way for players to familiarize themselves with the map and find where the best spots are for battles. Meanwhile, Riot confirmed that Breeze would also be added to other standard queues and game modes, including Deathmatch, Spike Rush, Escalation, and Custom.
What is ‘Valorant’s’ new Coach Slots
Tournament Mode is also getting a significant update through “Valorant” patch 2.08 as Riot introduces coach slots. Just like in other sports, teams of video game tournament players sometimes need the perspective of someone on the sideline who can see the bigger picture and whip up the best strategies to win matches.
On that note, Riot is adding a new feature in “Valorant” to accommodate coaches in Tournament Mode matches. The developer said available functionalities will be limited at first. For this patch, people using coach slots will be able to spectate matches in the said mode but can only communicate with All Chat and Party Chat features. If pausing the match is available, coaches can also use this, much like calling for a time-out.
