Minneapolis, MN, Dec. 11, 2017 -- Edmentum, a leading provider of web-based learning programs, has partnered with the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) after being awarded a contract to offer Exact Path as a student growth assessment. Exact Path provides assessment-driven individualized learning paths for K–8 reading, language arts, and math, aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL).

When evaluating Exact Path, the VDOE conducted a rigorous review of standards alignment, research validity, ability to measure growth for every student, scoring and reporting, accommodations for a range of learning abilities, and superior training and services.
With Exact Path, educators can pinpoint valid measures of growth within each subject domain using adaptive diagnostic assessments that determine learners’ instructional levels, strengths, and needs. Students then receive tailored learning paths of 100% mobile-optimized lessons and activities designed to help build their skill competencies at their own pace. Early research confirms that when learning paths are used in focused sessions of just 20 minutes per week, per subject, students’ outcomes significantly increase.
“Growth is a key Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) indicator of achievement that we’re proud to help Virginia educators effectively track and encourage,” said Dave Adams, chief academic officer of education strategy. “Exact Path’s adaptive diagnostic assessment uses a precise psychometrically valid algorithm to efficiently determine a student’s true ability score, whatever grade level it might lie in, and then calculate growth upon each successive administration.”
Exact Path gives educators access to ongoing progress monitoring and reports of student performance and growth at the district, school, class, and student levels. Additionally, built-in tools make taking action on data even easier. Supplemental standards-aligned assignable content offers tools for targeted instruction, and a grouping feature is available to help automate small-group planning guided by data.
Edmentum Exact Path is available for purchase and use by all Virginia local education agencies (LEAs), including all public school districts.
