REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec. 19, 2017 -- According to a brand new report from Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, wireless LAN is poised to accelerate Ethernet Switch market sales in 2018. The newly released Campus Network report identifies and discusses the level of Ethernet Switch market sales that have been substituted by wireless LAN deployments in the Enterprise Campus.
“Over the past five years users have been shifting away from desktop computers and over to laptops or other devices. This migration to mobility has depressed the Ethernet Switch market sales into Enterprise Campus networks,” said Tam Dell’Oro, Founder of Dell’Oro Group. “However, we have dived deep into the data, and interviewed end users on the network architecture. The results from this analysis is not what we expected. Wireless LAN actually spurs sales of Ethernet as users adopt higher-function, higher-speed wireless LAN access points. Three concurrent trends produce this phenomena,” added Dell’Oro.
The Advanced Research: Campus Networks Report includes historic data back through 2010 and a five-year forecast of both the Ethernet and Wireless LAN markets, including an analysis of the Ethernet ports and revenues substituted by wireless LAN deployments. An analysis of Ethernet switch NBASE-T is also included because wireless LAN with NBASE-T will trigger one of the most significant upgrades in the Enterprise Campus Ethernet network since circa 2000.
