I'm a robotics engineer who recently went back to study a PhD in computer science, looking specifically at Reinforcement Learning --- which is the math and science behind recent AI successes in playing Go and StarCraft, folding Proteins, steering Autonomous Vehicles, and controlling nuclear fusion reactors. I'm now a postdoc at the ARC Center of Excellence for Automated Decision Making and Society, where I work with humanities scholars (mostly lawyers and ethicists) to think about how Australia should regulate and litigate the spaces where AI and society overlap.
