Dr. Esses has conducted research on immigration and cultural diversity for over 25 years. Her research focuses on immigration policy and practice, including public attitudes toward immigration and cultural diversity; promising practices in settlement and integration; factors promoting the settlement and integration of immigrants; and the measurement of community welcome-ability and immigrant outcomes. Victoria has extensive experience conducting research in these areas, including invited work for federal, provincial, and municipal governments and for the settlement sector. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.

The Pathways to Prosperity (p2pcanada.ca) Partnership is a national alliance of university, community and government partners dedicated to fostering welcoming communities and promoting the integration of immigrants and minorities across Canada. The partnership receives its base funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. As the leading immigration research network in Canada, P2P has a proven track record of productivity and effectiveness, completing projects for government departments and practitioners that have been widely cited and integrated into the organization and operation of these groups.

The Network for Economic and Social Trends (https://nest.uwo.ca/) is the flagship research and policy alliance in the Faculty of Social Science at Western University. NEST employs advanced data creation and analytic techniques to provide theoretically-driven and evidence-based research to address social and economic challenges of our time.
