I'm associate professor in Forestry & Environmental Resources at NCSU, Chancellor's Faculty Excellence Program in Leadership in Public Science, jointly appointed as Assistant Head of the Biodiversity Research Lab at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. I'm author of new book, Citizen Science: How Ordinary People Are Changing the Face of Discovery (Dec, 2016, The Overlook Press). I'm Director of Research Partnership with SciStarter.com. I'm co-chair of ethics working group of the Citizen Science Association, and co-editor-in-chief of the CSA's journal (Citizen Science: Theory & Practice). I was a researcher for 15 years at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology before moving to NC 2 years ago.
