It’s usually a good idea to upgrade one’s iOS device when a new version comes out. However, there have been several occasions where it was found that doing so caused a ton of issues. In the case of the iOS 12.3.1, for example, it would appear that some users are experiencing a loss of cellular data. It doesn’t take a genius to understand the implications of that kind of bug, so holding off on upgrading is advised.
As of right now, the number of users who are experiencing data loss with iOS 12.3.1 is low, Forbes reports. It’s not exactly an epidemic, but the update did just come out. The number of cases could increase as time goes by. What’s more, considering how many cases don’t get reported, the figure could be quite a bit higher.
On that note, there are actually plenty of good things about the iOS 12.3.1 that might make it worth taking the risk to update. To start with, there is the increased security that is provided, which will then better protect users from online hazards. On top of that, there is the small matter of the update fixing bugs that were either caused by the previous update or were not addressed before.
It’s worth pointing out that many of the issues brought up in the update have not been widespread enough to warrant a huge number of posts on forums and the like. With this being the case, the iOS 12.3.1 might have not exactly been that big of a deal, to begin with.
Considering all of those factors should help users decide whether they want to upgrade to the iOS 12.3.1 or not. If they do, they might want to look up the methods for reverting to an older version just so they can take a step back if any issues come up.
