Something interesting just happened on Reddit today, which involved users helping a robot navigate the confusing layout through the participation of the users. The robot is called Cozmo, which is an adorable machine made by the company Anki. With the help of the advertising firm Wieden+Kennedy, the result is using the popular online platform to promote the future robot overlord.
Titled “Cozmo Lost in Reddit,” the event basically played out similar to Twitch Plays, wherein users have control over the actions of a character. In this instance, the character was Cozmo, which was trying to escape a maze full of an entertaining amount of references to Reddit.
There are rooms called r/gaming, for example, which is an ode to the huge subreddit. The same goes for r/hailcorporate, r/rarepuppers, and r/showerthoughts.
Anyone who has ever been to Reddit will readily understand how confusing the platform can be, especially for a newcomer and the mazes presented by the game certainly portrays this aspect accurately. Guided by the users, Cozmo navigated the landscape full of dank memes and more than a few nods to the Reddit community’s manic vibe.
As TechCrunch notes, Cozmo has a lot of skills, which is impressive for a robot the size of toddler’s wooden block. The adorable machine can pick up objects, scan items, and produce the most entertaining sounds. Thanks to the display screen that acts as its face, this little cuddly companion can also display several emotions including sad, worried, and surprised.
The landscapes that Cozmo had to navigate were also fairly small, being equivalent to a standard dining table. For the tiny machine, however, they were a series of labyrinths that were made more confusing thanks to the input of so many people.
The experiment has since ended and Redditors have successfully guided Cozmo through the mazes. Along the way, this little activity is sure to have convinced many users that having a Cozmo of their own would be a blast.
