Anambra Gov. Chukwuma Soludo said the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would back President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and separately cited infrastructure work in the South East at a campaign launch in Awka, BusinessDay reported.

Soludo pointed to federal work in the region, including dualization and rehabilitation on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and other infrastructure, as evidence of commitment, BusinessDay reported. He argued that cooperation among progressive forces could advance national development and urged party members to weigh political choices by practical benefits and election strategy. He framed the endorsement as serving Ndi Igbo and Ndi Anambra. Soludo also said APGA’s grassroots strength could help it win and pledged to campaign with its candidates, the outlet reported.

Soludo cited APGA’s support for former President Goodluck Jonathan in both 2011 and 2015 as precedent, BusinessDay reported. The party’s presidential backing alongside its legislative contests continues a strategy discussed in EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of APGA’s 2027 plans.

BusinessDay reported that more than 253 APGA candidates were presented across Nigeria at the Friday, Nov. 6, rally. Soludo gave party flags to 44 Anambra legislative candidates: three running for Senate, 11 for the House of Representatives and 30 for the state House of Assembly. He called on candidates and party members to canvass voters directly. APGA National Chairman Sly Ezeokenwa praised the primaries as competitive and said they complied with electoral laws. Ezeokenwa credited Soludo’s policies with attracting new members and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, BusinessDay reported.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) calendar lists Jan. 16, 2027, for presidential and National Assembly elections, followed by state assembly elections on Feb. 6, 2027.
