Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste’s airport network carried fewer passengers in October as weaker international traffic and a sharp drop in Mexico offset growth in several other markets.

The company reported 9,282,453 passengers for Oct. 1-31, down 0.9% from the same period in 2025. International traffic decreased 4.4% to 2,496,960, while domestic traffic rose 0.4% to 6,785,493.

Mexico recorded 2,801,399 passengers, a 5.4% decline. Domestic traffic there fell 3.7% to 1,596,543, and international traffic dropped 7.6% to 1,204,856. Cancún Airport’s passenger count fell 7.7% to 1,893,436, including a 9.5% decline in international passengers to 1,100,099. Cancún lost 157,217 passengers, accounting for most of Mexico’s 160,748 decrease.

Traffic rose 4.8% in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to 897,121 passengers and 2.8% in Colombia to 1,546,129. Brazil increased 0.9% to 2,999,759, and Ecuador edged up 0.2% to 458,428. Costa Rica fell 6.6% to 396,946 passengers, while Curazao declined 3.5% to 182,671.

ASUR’s release describes a portfolio of 36 airport concessions across the Americas. Its purchase of Motiva’s interests in CPC was completed Sept. 1, bringing 17 Brazilian airports and one airport apiece in Ecuador, Costa Rica and Curazao into the group.

For the first 10 months of 2026, ASUR reported 66,433,574 passengers, down 0.7% from the same period last year. October’s results followed a 1.2% third-quarter traffic decline detailed in EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of ASUR’s results. The company excludes transit passengers and general aviation from totals for Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Curazao.
