The United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has outlined cybersecurity guidance for aviation organizations, aiming to help protect operations and information as the sector relies more heavily on digital technology, Gulf News reported.

The GCAA Cybersecurity Guideline provides an approach to identifying, managing and limiting cyber threats while keeping operations running, according to the report. Gulf News said the framework also covers regulatory compliance, data safeguards and continuity of essential aviation services.

The guidance addresses steps organizations can take after a threat emerges. Gulf News reported that it covers detecting cybersecurity incidents, responding to threats and restoring operations after disruptions.

The outlet described the framework as linking cybersecurity with aviation safety and operational resilience. It also said the guidance calls for stronger oversight and broader cybersecurity awareness within aviation organizations, alongside protections for critical systems and passenger and operational data.
